Southeast Halifax High School

Health Services

The School health services is an integrated set of planned, sequential, school-affiliated strategies, activities, and services designed to promote the optimal physical, emotional, social, and educational development of students. To accomplishes these activities and services, I serve as a Nurse on a special team called "Child and Family Support Team" (CFST). This team was implemented under the Session Law 2005-276 Appropriation Act. The purpose of Child and Family Support Team is to provide a system of prevention, identify and coordinate appropriate community services for children at risk of academic failure or out of home placement. The CFST also addresses the physical, social, legal, emotional, and developmental factors associated with academic failure. As the nurse on the Child and Family Support Team, I will strive to identify children at-risk of academic failure or out-of-home placement. By working with the child, the family, the school and county agencies, we will strive to identify the child's and family strengths, identify the child's primary need, connect the child with the appropriate services and finally improve the child's academic, social, mental health, or physical health outcomes.
