School Executive’s Message

Welcome Back Team Trojan Students and Parents!Welcome to the 2015-2016 school year.

What a great time to be a Southeast Halifax Trojan!

On behalf of the faculty and staff, I take pleasure in welcoming you to Southeast Halifax High School.  It is a privilege and honor to return as the proud principal of Southeast Halifax High School! I am extremely excited about the new school year as we continue to focus on and improve the teaching and learning at our school to increase student achievement.  We anticipate another successful 2015 -2016 school year. Our TEAM possesses the desire, skills, knowledge and drive to achieve the single most important responsibility we have – educating today’s leaders! Our goal for each student is Academic and Attitude Excellence!

This year we will continue to build on and sustain our school-wide initiatives that will incorporate activities and projects to enhance the educational experiences for all students. These will further provide an outlet for their talents and interests. They will serve as our instructional priorities as we work towards ensuring academic excellence in our school. The initiatives are: the continued transition to and implementation of the Recognizing and Realizing Our Potential and Rigor Projects, the Teaching and Learning Focus Framework,  the STAR (Staff and Students Taking Academic/Attitude/Athletic Responsibility)(Students and Teachers Achieving Results) Initiative and being fully “AVIDtized’.

This student handbook is published so that all students of Southeast Halifax High School may have a ready reference to information that is necessary to understanding the daily operations of our school. It is essential that all students and parents read, understand, and adhere to the information contained in this handbook. Our success depends on the partnership, open communication and cooperation of our students and parents. I believe that this handbook is an effective resource for parents and students and that many questions are answered within the pages. It provides guidelines and regulations necessary to provide both a safe and productive learning environment.

As the Trojan Pride CEO, I will strive to ensure that we achieve our goal of providing an outstanding education for all students. I am so proud of Southeast High School’s faculty, staff and students!

Thank you for entrusting your child to us. Join us in making 2015-2016 the best year ever!

With respect and appreciation,

Ann Debreaux-Davis
